What is BCMpedia?

BCMpedia is a place to gain and share knowledge about business continuity and IT disaster recovery. It will includes related terms from the emergency, crisis, incident and security management field. BCMpedia is an open community where you can read, write and collaborate on a range of topics. If you are passionate about a subject within this domain, you can meet other experts and create world-class research and how-to advice. BCMpedia can help you get smart on a topic, hone your writing and analytic skills, build a reputation with a global audience and have fun!

Do I have to register to use BCMpedia?

Anyone can read but would require permission to write and edit the BCMpedia notes.

How do I know the information in BCMpedia is accurate?

BCMpedia cannot guarantee with 100% certainty that every piece of information is accurate. However, the vast majority of information in BCMpedia is written or reviewed by knowledgeable experts in a particular field. Information in BCMpedia is constantly being updated by the community. From time to time, vandals will purposefully try to taint articles. BCMpedia volunteers monitor the content of the site and fix problems as they arise, often within minutes or hours. The software BCMpedia uses alerts monitors when changes are made to articles and it is very easy, with the click of a button, to revert back to an earlier version of an article. So unlike physical vandalism, fixing BCMpedia subterfuge is much faster than the heinous act itself.

How does BCMpedia make money?

To date, BCMpedia has been funded by a single benefactor. BCMpedia intends to launch new research services that integrate information from the large and growing BCMpedia information repository. Money raised from the sale of these services is used to fund the infrastructure requirements of BCMpedia and help the community grow.

BCMpedia regards anyone that posts substantive, idea-based content to to be an "author." This includes anyone who writes a How-To article, a Professional Alert or in some other way constructs and contributes idea-based content. For now, it is concentrating on the terminology used and related articles for the various experience levels of our readers.
